Horizon Milling Closing PlantWELLINGTON - Jun 9/04 - SNS -- Horizon Milling, LLC is closing its facility here as the company said the plant can no "longer efficiently compete without extensive and costly equipment upgrades." As a result, Horizon Milling flour customers currently supplied by the Wellington mill will be supplied instead through other Horizon Milling facilities. "This was a difficult decision for us, but our customers require us to be very cost-efficient in meeting their needs," said Horizon Milling President Guy Shoemaker. "Therefore, we are upgrading production capabilities at our Wichita mill so we can more effectively address customer needs." Shoemaker indicated that the company continues to evaluate its milling capacity relative to current and projected flour demand, but there are no current plans for other mill closings.
