Mexico Hopes to Expand Bean AreaMEXICO CITY - May 27/04 - SNS -- The Mexican government hopes to engineer a net increase in dry edible bean seedings of 200,000 hectares in San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas and Durango. If successful, architects of the scheme believe it will generate another 170,000 metric tons (MT) of domestic dry edible bean production, limiting the country's need to import beans from the United States and elsewhere.
