Bunge Opens Port Facility in TurkeyWHITE PLAINS - May 21/94 - SNS -- Bunge Limited officially opened its port in Derince, a deepwater harbor located in Izmit Bay, Turkey. Izmit Bay is home to nearly one quarter of Turkey’s population and more than 40% of Turkish poultry production. The Port of Derince serves as a natural commercial hub for many of the growing markets in the Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea and Caucasus region. Under the agreement with the government-owned Port of Derince, Bunge has a 10-year lease on approximately 20,000 square meters of land at the port. Bunge has constructed storage facilities for grains, oilseeds and meal, and installed loading equipment for sea and land transport of bulk commodities. The total investment was approximately $10 million.
