ABM Says El Nino Status NeutralSYDNEY - May 19/04 - SNS -- The current El Nino-Southern Oscillation status remains neutral, according to the latest outlook from Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (ABM). "Even though there is a somewhat increased risk of an El Nino developing this year, that risk has continued to decrease over the past week," ABM said in its latest outlook. "Indicating against an El Nino are the recent trends in the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), Trade Winds, sea-surface temperatures, central Pacific cloudiness, the consensus of forecast models and the Bureau-run POAMA forecast model," ABM said.
