Good Seeding Progress in ManitobaWINNIPEG - May 17/04 - SNS -- Seeding is making good progress in Manitoba, although last week's snowfall event kept growers in several parts of the province off fields most of the past week. In Manitoba's southwest much-needed moisture came last week in the form of snow and rain; about 25-40 cm of snow and 25-75 mm of rain have upgraded the region's moisture rating from fair to good. Cereal crop seeding is about 50-70% completed, oilseeds are 5-25% done, pulse crops are at 90% (although soybeans and edible beans have not yet been started) and about 5% of corn and sunflower acres are done.
