Cottonseed Ginnings Advance 6% in 2003WASHINGTON - May 12/04 - SNS -- A total of 17.7 million running bales were ginned during the 2003 season, 6% above 2002's ginnings of 16.7 million bales, according to the USDA. A 65-pound yield per acre increase from 2002 contributed to the higher level of ginnings. There were 890 active cotton gins during the 2003 season, down from the 921 that operated in 2002.
