British Growers Emphasize BeansLONDON - May 6/04 - SNS -- The British Edible Pulse Association (BEPA) says field pea area in the United Kingdom ended up down from last year, with growers placing more emphasis on winter beans. "Overall, there should be a small increase in the area of pulses, but this will mostly be with winter beans. The area of peas is thought to be slightly lower than that for 2003, while the spring bean area is similar to last year. Historically, farmers do not forward sell significant quantities of pulses, but this could be the year to re-consider this point," the association said in its latest market review.
