Egyptian Cotton Production Trending UpwardCAIRO - May 4/04 - SNS -- Cotton production is on a sharp upward trend in Egypt, with this year's harvests expected to total 274,000 metric tons (MT), up from just 190,000 MT in 2003. "This substantial increase is mainly attributed to substantial increase in the 2002-2004 local cotton prices, which jumped from LE 500 to LE 1100 per Kentar (1 Kentar= 50 Kg)," argues the U.S. agricultural attache here.
