North American Bean Supply TighterVANCOUVER - Apr 27/04 - STAT -- As seeding of this year's pulse crops got underway in Canada and the United States it was clear the winter's bullish soybean market was having a significant impact on the mix of crops going in the ground. While pulses still play an important role in crop rotations, the mix that is being planted is clearly changing. In the United States, an obvious downward trend in dry edible bean area is being offset by increased interest in field peas and lentils for little net change in total pulse area.
