Agricore United Helps Foodgrains BankWINNIPEG - Apr 21/04 - SNS -- Agricore United is donating CDN $50,000 worth of planting seed to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) to help community growing projects across Western Canada in 2004. Seed provided includes wheat, barley, canola, flax or any other mainstream crop that is handled, subject to availability, with the exception of identity preserved crops. The CFGB has more than 80 growing projects across Western Canada. "The support we get from Agricore United for our many grow projects makes a huge difference in the amount of food grains and oil seeds our farmer network is able to supply to developing countries," says Jim Cornelius, Executive Director, CFGB. "Their generosity combined with the generosity of spirit and time of our farmer volunteers makes the difference for thousands of people." Projects receiving Agricore United seed include the Claresholm Grow Project near Fort Macleod, Alberta, the CHIP IN Project near Domain, Manitoba and the Edinburgh Growing Project near Aberdeen, Saskatchewan. "The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is important to both our customers and our employees," says Radean Carter, Communications Coordinator, Agricore United. "The interest again this year has been immediate, with numerous grow projects already identified for support. It's really rewarding as a company to know that we're part of this global commitment to community development."
