handlers anticipate to begin packing and marketing of the Brooks variety
harvested from the San Joaquin Valley the week of April 18. Some of local
grown Burlat variety may begin harvesting the week of April 18. Trade sources
indicate the harvest of the Bing variety to begin the week of May 9th. A
Pacific cold front passed through the district late in the period of the
week of April 11 with light precipitation received. The current week
temperatures are expected to rebound with daytime highs approaching low 80’s
by the end of period.
SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY DISTRICT, CALIFORNIA---Shipments 0-0-0---Movement
expected to increase. The light movement of the Brooks variety is
anticipated to begin the week of April 18. There was very light movement of
the Burlat variety and pollinator varieties from the district the week of
April 18. These early packs were marketed to nearby markets. A Pacific cold
front passed through the weekend of April 17 with scattered showers in the
southern portion of the valley. Temperatures are expected to rebound this
