USDA Re-Tweaks Food Aid TenderKANSAS CITY - Apr 5/04 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here continued to fine tune, invitation 044, reinstating and amending additional quality requirements for peas and lentils. With the changes, the USDA is seeking: Whole dry peas and split peas must meet the specifications as defined in the "U.S. Standards for Whole Dry Peas, Split Peas, and Lentils" in effect at the time the applicable invitation for offers is issued. Whole dry peas shall grade U.S. No. 2 or better, except U.S. No. 3 or better, because of cracked seed coats. The grade certificates issued by FGIS for whole dry peas containing up to 9 percent for cracked seed coats will show the grade number U.S. No. 3 and must include the following statement: This lot meets the requirements applicable for U.S. No. 2 or better whole dry peas except for cracked seed coats. Lentils must meet the specifications as defined in the U.S. Standards for Whole Dry Peas, Split Peas, and Lentils in effect at the time the applicable invitation for offers is issued. Lentils shall grade U.S. No. 3 or better. The grade certificates issued by FGIS for lentils will show the grade number U.S. No. 3, and must include the following statement: This lot meets the requirements applicable for U.S. No. 3 or better lentils.
