Little Change in Field Pea ValuationsVANCOUVER - Apr 2/04 - STAT -- Field pea markets finished the week with few changes reported in a relatively quiet trading environment. Soil moisture conditions are becoming a background concern to markets because most of western Canada's crop production areas are rated dry, with little or no improvement forecast through the middle of the month. The Canadian Wheat Board alerted markets of the problem, saying soaking rains are needed in April to ensure a good start to the 2004 growing season. Weather forecasters in the United States predict below normal precipitation in the next 10 days across the most important field pea producing areas of western Canada.
