Japan Expects 850,000 MT Sugar CropTOKYO - Mar 26/04 - SNS -- Japan's domestic sugar production should reach 897,000 metric tons (MT) this season, but there is an expectation sugarbeet seedings will decline, with the result domestic output could slip in 2004-05 to around 850,000 MT. While raw sugar imports are expected to finish the 2003-04 marketing season down 40,000 MT at 1.44 million, a reduced domestic crop should increase import buying activity, with the result purchases in 204-05 could inch back up to around 1.46 million MT.
