Slovakia's Fruit Industry Contracted in 2002VIENNA - Mar 24/04 - SNS -- Fruit production in Slovakia slipped 1% during 2003 to 80,405 metric tons (MT), with apple accounting for 63.6% of the total. Of the balance of the fruit trees: 10.7% are plum trees, 4.5% cherry trees and 4% walnut trees. The total number of fruit trees increased in 2002 by 697,028 (+4.8%) and reached a total number of 15,224,452 trees, reports the U.S. agricultural attache here.
