Bee Maid Says Canadian Honey OkayOTTAWA - Mar 24/04 - SNS -- Canadian honey suppliers have responded to the latest recall of some brands of imported honey by stressing that domestically produced product is free of nitrofurans. Winnipeg, Manitoba, based Bee Maid Honey Ltd. urges consumers seeking high quality honey for their families to review the product origin area of the honey container label and choose "Product of Canada". Phil Veldhuis, a honey producer from Starbuck, Manitoba and a member of the Board of Directors of Bee Maid, indicates, "As a honey producer, I take a great deal of pride in the quality of the honey I supply to Canadian consumers. Frankly, I am appalled to think that a banned drug could be present in imported honey". Gordon Marks, Chief Executive Officer of Bee Maid states, "Bee Maid believes Canadian honey consumers deserve only high quality honey from Canadian stores." He continues, "Consumers wishing to purchase 100% Canadian honey should ensure the label states 'Product of Canada'". The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
