Flat Outlook for Thai PulsesBANGKOK - Mar 23/04 - STAT -- Pulse production levels in Thailand are expected to remain relatively flat in the foreseeable future as tought competition on export markets from Myanmar has discouraged dry edible bean seeding in favor of rice and other crops. Seeded area this season could end up around 295,000 hectares, slightly ahead of the 293,000 planted last year; but still below the 304,000 hectares planted in 2002.
