USDA Sets ELS Discount Schedule
WASHINGTON - Mar 23/04 - SNS -- The USDA announced a schedule of low-strength fiber discounts for 2004-crop Extra Long Staple (ELS) cotton.
A similar strength schedule already applies to upland cotton. Today's announcement informs prospective ELS producers, facing imminent planting decisions, the specific effects of including fiber strength in the loan schedule.
The low strength ranges, delineated in the customary grams per tex units, and the associated discounts, measured in points (hundredths of a cent).
