South Africa Lifts Edible Bean EstimatePRETORIA - Mar 19/04 - SNS -- This season's edible bean crop in South Africa is now expected to total 68,390 metric tons (MT), a solid improvement on initial predictions the crop would end up at 63,370 MT, according to the latest estimates from the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS). In releasing the numbers, SAGIS said the area planted to dry beans was adjusted upward by 100 hectares (ha) to 56,200 ha, and the expected yield is 1.22 MT per ha.
