Smaller Harvest May Lift Japanese ImportsTOKYO - Mar 17/04 - STAT -- Dry edible bean production suffered a steep decline in 2003 on account of a cool, overcast summer which did not deliver enough heat units for crops to realize their full yield potential. As a result production of all pulses in Japan is believed to have sunk from almost 100,000 metric tons (MT) in 2002 to just 87,000 MT in 2003.
