South Africa Optimistic About BeansVANCOUVER - Mar 12/04 - STAT -- South Africa's dry edible bean industry is optimistic about local market prospects because of quality problems with imported Chinese beans. Though above average quantities are being brought into the country, South Africa's Dry Bean Producers Organization (DPO) argues, "A higher weighted average producer price is envisaged for the 2004 marketing season, mainly because of poorer quality imports from China with a relatively high moisture content (packed beans rot more readily).
