India's Cotton Harvest Estimate LoweredNEW DELHI - Mar 12/04 - SNS -- India's cotton harvest is now expected to total 16.1 million bales in 2003-04, down 200,000 bales due to a reduced area estimate. Interestingly, industry forecasts vary between 15.8 million bales to 16.8 million bales. The All India Cotton Traders Association (AICTA) met on February 22 and projected the 2003/04 cotton crop at 16.5 million bales. However, many market sources feel the AICTA estimate to be slightly optimistic. The Cotton Advisory Board is expected to meet in the 2nd week of March to assess the current year's cotton supply situation. The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
