Canadian Peas Face Long Term Challenges
WINNIPEG - Mar 12/04 - STAT -- Canada's field pea industry faces a longer term challenge of maintaining production in the face of subsidized output in the United States and efforts by the major importers such as India to encourage bigger domestic crops, suggests a recent analysis of the field pea sector by Agriculture Canada.
Stan Skrypetz, Pulse and Special Crops Analyst with the market analysis division of Agriculture Canada in Winnipeg says there are two main challenges facing the Canadian field pea industry.
