U.S. Milk Output and Use RiseWASHINGTON - Mar 10/04 - SNS -- Milk production in the United States is expected to reach 170.1 billion pounds for a 400 million pound increase from last month, according to the latest data from the USDA's World Agriculture Outlook Board. Despite the increase, production is expected to drop below levels recorded during 2002-03, where output is now estimated at 170.4 billion pounds. Numbers for previous years were revised in the latest report to account for upward revisions in 2002 and 2003 milk production by the National Agricultural Statistics Service. It is worth noting, the increase in output is being matched by gains in consumption, with the result the USDA sees no change in forecast ending stock levels.
