Net Decline in Other Citrus Fruit CropsWASHINGTON - Mar 10/04 - SNS -- Steep declines in the quantity of lemons and tangelos produced this year more than offset gains in grapefruit, tangerine and temple output in the United States. Ignoring oranges, which are up substantially over last year, production of other citrus crops followed by the USDA have posted a net decline from last year, judging from the latest crop production estimates from the USDA. The forecast of the 2003-04 U.S. grapefruit crop is 2.09 million tons, unchanged from the February 1 forecast but 1% above the previous season. Florida's grapefruit forecast remains unchanged at 40.0 million boxes (1.70 million tons) but 3% above last season's final utilization.
