Government Plays up Beans in CAFTALANSING - Mar 4/054 - MFB -- Attendees at the Michigan Farm Bureau's 2004 Trade Forum and Statewide Commodity Conference got a first-hand look at the Bush Administration's foreign trade agenda when a trade representative from Washington addressed the group March 4 at the Lansing Center. Ken Roberts, an associate administrator with the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, offered an overview of the current status of international trade agreements, the impacts of biotechnology on global commodity markets, and stressed the importance of maintaining open markets for American agricultural products.
