India's Pulse Harvest Outlook ReaffirmedNEW DELHI - Feb 25/04 - SNS -- Pulse production in India is expected to total at least 15 million metric tons (MT) across the 2003-04 marketing year, compared to just 11.3 million the previous season, reckons the U.S. agricultural attache here. In a summary of conditions in the country, the agricultural attache said it now appears chickpea output will reach 7 million MT this season, while India also produces 1.1 million MT of lentils, 2.8 million MT of pigeon peas, 800,000 MT of dry peas, and 3.3 million MT of other pulses, which include urd (black matpe), mung beans, and other minor pulses.
