UK Contains Potato Ring Rot Outbreak
LONDON - Feb 23/04 - SNS -- An outbreak of potato ring rot on a farm in Wales has been contained and no other farms have grown or received infected stocks, says the United Kingdom's agriculture department.
In total, over 165,000 potato tubers have been tested during the outbreak. On the outbreak farm, one stock of the Provento variety and one stock of a Provento/Almera admixture were found to be infected. Apart from these two stocks, all tests were negative, including for the remaining twenty seed potato stocks on the outbreak farm.
