USDA to Buy 3 Million Pounds Cherries
WASHINGTON - Feb 19/04 - SNS -- The USDA intends to buy up to three million pounds of dried red tart cherries for use in child nutrition and other domestic food assistance programs.
Details of the timing of tenders was not immediately known. The dried cherries are used by recipients for baking, as toppings on foods such as cereal and mixed with other products.
