China Watches Poultry Trade DeclineBEIJING - Feb 17/04 - SNS -- This year's avian influenza outbreak will have a profound effect on China's trade in poultry products, with both imports and exports seen dropping below initial expectations. Trade is being effected both by the lethal H5N1 strain in Asia and more benign H7 strain found in three states in the United States. Both caused China to ban imports of poultry and poultry products from several countries. At the same time, Chinese products are banned by 41 countries on account of the presence of bird flu there.
