WTO Throws Out Canada's Rail Revenue CapVANCOUVER - Feb 13/04 - SNS -- The degree of uncertainty in new crop lentil markets, especially for Canadian origin product, increased during the week in the face of a growing list of transportation concerns. Uncertainty over pricing export grain on account of bullish ocean freight markets was compounded by worries about the future direction for rail freight rates in Canada. The World Trade Organization (WTO) agreed with the United States Canada's rail revenue caps discriminate against imported grains and are therefore illegal under GATT.
