ABB-AusBulk Merger TalksSYDNEY - Feb 12/04 - SNS -- The Australian barley marketing board, ABB Grain Ltd and AusBulk Ltd have entered preliminary talks aimed at merging the two companies. ABB stressed "these discussions are incomplete and no agreement has been reached. It is uncertain at this stage whether any agreement will be reached, however, if these discussions result in an agreement, a further announcement will be made." The barley board said it "remains focussed on strengthening the company's core business base whilst exploring growth opportunities within Australia and offshore." AusBulk did not add anything to the comments by ABB, saying it was proceeding with preparations for listing the Company on the ASX later this year, as it had outlined in its recently released annual report for the year ending September 2003.
