India's Chickpea Area ExpandsNEW DELHI - Feb 6/04 - SNS -- India's Ministry of Agriculture reports that planting of this year's rabi or winter season pulses is advancing at a better than normal pace and final seeded areas should end up posting major advances over what it considered normal. India's agriculture department says about 14 million hectares of pulses have been sown so far, 2.8 million hectares ahead of this time last year and 3.3 million hectares above what is considered a normal rabi season pulse area -- 10.7 million hectares.
