Port of Savannah Expansion UnderwaySAVANNAH - Feb 2/04 - SNS -- The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has started construction of a new berth at the Port of Savanna, which will increase port capacity 20% when it is complete. Doug Marchand, executive director of GPA, said: "I am proud to announce that the work on the new container berth for the Port of Savannah has begun. "When this project is completed, the Port of Savannah will feature over 9,800 feet of berthing accommodations, thus increasing what is the longest dock and the largest single terminal container facility on the east and Gulf Coasts."
