Rotterdam Container Capacity ExpansionROTTERDAM - Jan 27/04 - SNS -- The Interforest Terminal an the Eemhaven area is tripling its container handling capacity to 90,000 TEU per year as part of a US$16.35 million construction program. Construction is scheduled to be completed in October. The company said a gantry crane and 6.5 hectares of land have been bought. This will allow the terminal to expand to cover 18 hectares, including a 500-meter quay and two berths. The investments is to also include a new shed, pavement, crane rails construction and a container management system. Additionally, the new container facility will enable Interforest to shift 20,000 TEU from its Maasvlakte terminals. The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
