USDA Lifts Austrian Winter Pea EstimateWASHINGTON - Jan 12/04 - SNS -- Production of Austrian winter peas in Idaho, Montana, and Oregon for the 2003 season is estimated at 174,000 cwt, up 21% from the November 1 forecast and 6% above 2002, according to the USDA's final crop production report for the 2003 growing season. Area harvested, at 15,600 acres, is 34% above both the previous forecast and last season. Producers abandoned less area than previously expected resulting in the higher production levels.
