Largest Sweet Potato Harvest Since 1962WASHINGTON - Jan 12/04 - SNS -- U.S. Production of sweet potatoes in 2003 is estimated at 15.9 million cwt, up 24% from last season and 9% above 2001 for comparable states, according to the USDA's final crop production report for the 2003 growing season. This is the largest production of sweet potatoes in the U.S. since 1962, when 17.1 million cwt were produced. Growers harvested 92,400 acres, up 11% from last year.
