Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Dec 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warnings A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Cape Otway. Weather Pattern A low pressure trough will linger over northeastern Victoria today as a high pressure system drifts slowly across the Tasman Sea. Another low pressure trough will develop over South Australia then move over Victoria during Wednesday. A cold front will move from south of the Bight to reach southern Victoria on Thursday then a high pressure system will develop south of South Australia on Friday. Victoria Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the northeast becoming more extensive during the afternoon across most northern and eastern areas. A warm humid day with light wind tending moderate to fresh east to southeasterly in the south and coastal seabreezes. Fire Danger: High in northwest forest areas. UV Index: 12 [extreme] reducing to 5 [moderate] under cloud. Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the north and east. Sultry. Milder about the coast. Thursday: Showers, tending to rain in the east. Local thunderstorms. Becoming cooler from the west. Friday: Thunderstorms in the far east clearing. Showers in the south becoming isolated.
