Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
WARNING SUMMARY
Nil.
STATE FORECAST
for Tuesday
A few showers over eastern districts, more widespread along the tropical coast.
Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms over the west of the state.
Moderate to fresh southeast winds along most of the east coast tending northeast
over the interior.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
The Tasman Sea high will remain slow moving only to be replaced by another high
on Wednesday. This means that the firm ridge will be maintained along most of
the east coast with moderate to fresh southeast to east winds bringing some
showers to the nearby coastline. The atmosphere is going to be relatively
unstable over much of the eastern interior on Tuesday, and to a lesser extent
Wednesday, enabling isolated showers to develop further inland during the
afternoons. During Thursday the high moves SE of New Zealand and the ridge
weakens along the east coast of Queensland. Also, the atmosphere is expected to
stabilize over nearby inland parts. As a result, showers will contract to
coastal parts and become more isolated. Winds will ease along coastal parts.
The inland surface trough will remain near the southwest of the state over the
next few days. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue over western
Queensland, but progress further east over the southern interior during Thursday
and Friday as the southern section of the trough moves east.
