Drought Pressures Australian Raisin YieldCANBERRA - Oct 9/03 - SNS -- Smaller grape production levels on account of recent drought will result in a significant drop in raisin production during the 2003-04 season. Output is now expected to total 16,118 metric tons (MT), down dramatically from the 29,956 MT in 2002-03. This is the second lowest production year on record; with the disastrous harvest of 2001/2002 the only smaller harvest (13,676 MT), notes the U.S. agricultural attache here in a report on this sector of the Australian agricultural economy.
