Peanut Stocks Down by HalfWASHINGTON - Oct 1/03 - SNS -- Peanut stocks in commercial storage were roughly half year earlier levels, according to the USDA, finishing the month at 592 million pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 1.18 billion pounds last year. This total includes 77.2 million pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 482 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 33.7 million pounds. There were no Commodity Credit Corporation uncommitted stocks on hand as of August 31, 2003. Shelled peanut stocks totaled 362 million pounds of which 351 million pounds were edible grades and 11.5 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 53.2 million pounds of Virginias, 277 million pounds of Runners, and 20.4 million pounds of Spanish. August millings totaled 66.5 million pounds.
