Easier Undertone As Canada's Harvest Starts

VANCOUVER - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- Lentil markets in North America finished the week with a generally easier undertone under relatively light trading conditions.

The harvest is now underway in Saskatchewan, with the first 2% of the crop in the bin by the middle of the week and farmers heading into their fields to combine more lentils.

As is the case with peas, market temperament was were helped by the fact weather forecasts through the end of the month are good, forecasting warm and dry days and overnight temperatures which are well above freezing. However, a numerous long term forecasters fear temperatures will turn cold once September arrives.
