Canada's Bulk Lentil Exports Rise in July

VANCOUVER - Aug 21/13 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 26,300 metric tons (MT) lentils were exported through licensed terminal facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in July. The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are up from the 11,200 MT shipped the same month last year and up from the 17,100 MT shipped the previous month. This lifted season to date exports to 231,900 MT since the August start of the current marketing year.

The 2011-12 marketing year finished with 188,500 MT of lentils exported through terminals reporting to the CGC, versus 187,085 MT the previous season.

So far this calendar year, 173,300 MT of lentils have been exported through bulk terminals, compared to 78,900 during the same period last season.
