Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters west of Wilsons
Promontory.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system over inland New South Wales with a ridge to eastern
Victoria, will move slowly eastwards during the weekend before reaching the
Tasman Sea on Monday. A weak cold front will move south of Victoria this morning
but a stronger front will approach from the Bight on Monday, crossing the State
on Tuesday.  
Victoria
Saturday:  Fine apart isolated showers about the west coast. A cool and mostly
sunny day with light to moderate north to northwesterly wind, fresh at times
over the coast.
Sunday:    Fine, although high cloud increasing from the west later.
Strengthening northwest wind. Cool.
Monday:    Showers or patchy rain developing in the west later, then reaching
central parts at night. Windy. Cool to mild.
Tuesday:   Patchy rain then scattered showers. Windy. Colder westerly change
developing. 
Forecast for Melbourne
Saturday
Fine. A mostly sunny day with moderate to fresh northerly wind easing this
afternoon.

Fine. Fresh, gusty northerly wind.          Min 8    Max 16
Monday
Windy. Mainly fine.                         Min 10    Max 16
Tuesday
A little rain.                              Min 10    Max 14
Trend for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Showery periods. Cool to cold.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Saturday:  Northerly wind of about  20 knots easing to around 15 knots this
afternoon. Waves to one metre. 
Sunday:    Northerly wind of 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots during
the day. Waves rising 1 to 2 metres.
Monday:    North to northwesterly winds 20 to 30 knots reaching 35 knots at
times.
Tuesday:   North to northwesterly wind 20 to 30 knots shifting west to
southwesterly at 20 to 25 knots. 
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
