USDA National Grain ReviewST. JOSEPH - Aug 1/03 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Aug 1.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
Wheat and corn closed the week mix, while soybeans were sharply lower.
Wheat saw most of the declines by mid-week but the market recovered most of its
losses by Thursday afternoon. Spring wheat ratings were good to excellent at 60
percent which was noted supporting the market early on. Overnight exports were
also good lending support later in the week.
The corn market looked positive as the week started but turned in the
negative side by Wednesday due to rain in the western corn-belt. Exports were
sharply lower from last week coming in less than 100,000.
Soybeans saw the sharpest losses as wet conditions in the western corn-belt
and technical selling pressured the market. The June crush numbers came in at
121.2 million bushels which was viewed as negative.
Wheat was mix, from 6 cents lower to 11 cents higher. Corn was uneven, from
2 cents lower to firm. Sorghum steady to 4 cents higher. Soybeans 16 to 34
cents lower.
