Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Aug 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Strong wind warning for coastal waters Torres Strait to Innisfail. STATE FORECAST for Saturday Fine almost throughout the state. Only isolated showers over far northern Cape York Peninsula. Another cold morning with widespread frosts over the central and southern inland. Moderate to locally fresh south to southeast winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Dry and generally clear weather is expected over most of Queensland through the weekend and into early next week. The high will be the controlling influence as it moves only slowly east to eventually reach the Tasman Sea on Sunday. The high will gradually develop moister SE winds in east coast districts during the next few days resulting in milder overnight temperatures. Showers will initially be confined to northern Cape York Peninsula, but isolated showers should develop along the north tropical coast on Sunday and along other exposed parts of the coast north from Fraser Island on Monday. The rest of the state can expect dry weather to continue during this period. The next surface and upper level trough should reach southwest Queensland on Tuesday accompanied by some high cloud but no rain. However this system may produce some patchy light falls over the southeast corner on Wednesday. The spell of low overnight temperatures should begin to ease in western districts on Saturday night and the east on Sunday night as low level winds turn more easterly. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
