Oats Up, But Still Second Lowest AreaWASHINGTON - Jun 29/12 - SNS -- Area seeded to oats in the United States this year is 2.75 million acres, up 10% from the record low planted last year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2012. This is the second lowest United States total on record. Record low acreage is estimated in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming. Growers expect to harvest 1.09 million acres, up 16% from the record low last year. If realized, this will be second lowest total on record.
