Sweet Potato Crop Slips
WASHINGTON - Jun 12/12 - SNS -- Production of sweet potatoes in 2011 totaled 27.0 million cwt ( 100 pound units), down slightly from the Crop Production 2011 Summary released in January 2012 but up 13% from the previous year, according to the latest crop report from the USDA.
Growers harvested 129,700 acres, up 11% from 2010. Yield per acre, at a record high 208 cwt, is unchanged from January but up 4 cwt from the previous year.
