Firmer Finish For BirdseedsVANCOUVER - May 19/12 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on a generally firmer note against doubts about how many acres will be planted this year in the United States and Canada. This saw white proso millet values jump over $1 per 100 pounds (cwt) as spot markets pushed to levels intended to attract late seeding interest from growers in the United States. Sunflower markets also firmed, helped by a tighter outlook for oilseed supplies later in the year. On the other hand, Canadian canaryseed markets were little changed, with grower selling interest remaining just ahead of the short term needs of the market.
