Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
An area of low pressure over northern Victoria will weaken during today.  A
strong high pressure system well south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards
to be located south of Tasmania on Thursday and Friday with a ridge extending
northwards across Victoria. On Saturday the high will reach the Tasman Sea while
a front will brush the west coast as it slips southeastwards.  
Victoria
Wednesday: Isolated showers and drizzle patches, chiefly in the north and near
the ranges. Morning fog patches inland. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with
light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.
Thursday:  Isolated showers near the coast and in the southeast. Fog patches
inland, mostly clearing by the afternoon. Local morning frosts inland then a
cool to mild day.
Friday:    Isolated showers near the Gippsland coast and in the southwest later.
Morning fog and frost patches inland then a cool to mild day.
Saturday:  Isolated showers in the southwest. Isolated morning fog and frost
patches in the east. Cool to mild day.
Forecast for Melbourne
Wednesday
Partly cloudy with a shower or two about, but fine for most of the time. Light
to moderate east to northeast winds.

Fog then fine.                              Min 5    Max 15
Friday
Fine.                                       Min 5    Max 14
Saturday
Fine.                                       Min 7    Max 16
Trend for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Mainly fine. Cool. Windy.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Wednesday: East to northeast winds of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots at first
in the south. Waves of 1 metre or less.
Thursday:  East to northeasterly winds of 5 to 10 knots becoming variable to 10
knots during the afternoon.
Friday:    Northeast to northerly winds of 10 to 15 knots.
Saturday:  North to northwest winds freshening to 15 to 20 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Mostly fine.
